Grieving her dad’s death the previous year, newly graduated Cecilia accepts her estranged grandparent’s offer to live with them in Jakarta. She leaves her mom and home of LA to reconnect with her dad’s family and his country of birth as she figures out life post-uni.I said it after a sneak peak of this lovely story and I’ll say it again now that I’ve finished: this is an evocative and delightful exploration of heritage, family, and finding one’s place in the world. Sondakh vividly portrays Jakarta and the struggles of fitting in. Cecilia is a character you’ll root for!Identity, belonging, and a variety of relationships are covered in this book. My favorite part of this story is the loving descriptions of Jakarta in all its messy glory and interesting experiences of moving overseas. I’m not surprised that Natasha captured these experiences or the cross-cultural complexities, because she lived part of it and interviewed others to represent more perspectives. This book made me laugh, the FOREWORD brought tears to my eyes, and I definitely recommend this debut for contemporary fans, global citizens, anyone who feels like they don’t fit in when they should belong.*4.5 stars*CW: sexual assault, grief, dad’s death from cancer, racism A very good book realistically depicting not only the life in Jakarta but the complexities of family and business connections of Indonesia. How a 23 year old depict the life so realistically is astounding. It’s as if she had lived the life of CeCe, which is not possible, yet she pulled it off. I’m awed. Having known Indonesia culture almost half my life, none prepared me for such a poignant reflection and yet contended contemplation of a life that is JakartaI can’t wait to read her next book. Totally entertaining and insightful at the same time.A very talented author indeed Read Online She Smells of Turmeric Download She Smells of Turmeric She Smells of Turmeric PDF She Smells of Turmeric Mobi Free Reading She Smells of Turmeric Download Free Pdf She Smells of Turmeric PDF Online She Smells of Turmeric Mobi Online She Smells of Turmeric Reading Online She Smells of Turmeric Read Online Natasha Sondakh Download Natasha Sondakh Natasha Sondakh PDF Natasha Sondakh Mobi Free Reading Natasha Sondakh Download Free Pdf Natasha Sondakh PDF Online Natasha Sondakh Mobi Online Natasha Sondakh Reading Online Natasha SondakhDownload PDF Mr. Uptight By Felice Stevens
